Tom Brokaw Released From Hospital After Feeling "Light-Headed"

Legendary newsman is hospitalized as a precaution after feeling unwell during the Democratic National Convention

UPDATE: The newsman has been given a clean bill of health.

"After medical evaluation and a round of tests, Tom was pronounced in great health and has been discharged.," NBC News President Steve Capus said. "We're immensely grateful to the team at Carolinas Medical Center for their excellent care and professionalism."

Tom Brokaw was taken to a Charlotte, N.C., hospital for observation after feeling ill following a taping of MSNBC's Morning Joe Thursday morning.

A statement released by NBC News said the veteran newsman began feeling lightheaded.

"Out of an abundance of caution, he was taken to a hospital. He is being evaluated and is in good spirits," read the statement.

Brokaw later took to Twitter to inform everyone that he's feeling fine.

"All is well Early AM I mistakenly took a half dose of Ambien and made less sense than usual. Made a better comeback than Giants," he tweeted

Since handing the reins of NBC Nightly News to Brian Williams in 2004, the 72-year-old journalist has been serving as a special correspondent for the network and is currently providing analysis for both political conventions this year.
