Despite lukewarm reviews and backlash for its content, 2 Broke Girls was a hit with audiences and was the No. 1 new comedy of the season last year. And in this exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from 2 Broke Girls: The Complete First Season (in stores now), creator Michael Patrick King and stars Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs talk about how that happened.

"It's all about somehow they're going to get through it but life actually happens and you have to prioritize the people you love over your business," Dennings says. "What's the most important thing? What are they going to use their cupcake money for?"
