One of the worst-kept secrets was finally confirmed on Tuesday.
After it was essentially revealed last week that the former NFL star would be permanently replacing Regis Philbin on the popular ABC program, it became official this morning.
"We finally have our new guy. That's right, I said guy," Ripa told the audience right before introducing Strahan, who proceeded to come out and give his partner a big hug and kiss before taking his seat alongside her.
"I am speechless," he said. "I am so happy to be here and be a part of this. You know how they say it's a dream come true. Well, I truly can't say that because I didn't know I could even dream this."
Strahan's new gig comes after nine months in which he, along with 58 other guest cohosts such as Neil Patrick Harris, Anderson Cooper, Nick Lachey, Seth Meyers and Ripa's husband Mark Consuelos, were considered.
