After endorsing Mitt Romney for president earlier this month, Clint Eastwood was on hand Thursday at the GOP convention, taking the stage in support of the presidential nominee.
During his time in front of the crowd, Eastwood said President Barack Obama failed to deliver on his promises, saying it was time for Romney to "solve the problem."
"I remember three and a half years ago when Mr. Obama won the election and, no, I wasn't a big supporter," Eastwood said. "I was watching that night when he was having that thing and they were talking about hope and change…'Yes we can'…it was nice, people were lighting candles, I just thought this is great. Everybody's crying, Oprah was crying…even I was crying.
"I haven't cried that hard since I found out there were 23 million unemployed people in this country. That is something to cry for...this administration hasn't done enough to cure that."
And the Oscar-winning thesp decided to add a bit of entertainment to his speech by conducting a mock interview with an absent Obama, talking to an empty stool.
"So, Mr. President…how do you handle promises that you made when you're running for election and what do you say to people? I know people were wondering," Eastwood said.
"I'm not gonna shut up. It's my turn," the Gran Torino star continued, still talking to the stool. "I just wondered, all these promises, and then I wondered about you know…what? What do you want me to tell Romney? I can't tell him that…he can't do that to himself. You're absolutely crazy. You're getting as bad as [Joe] Biden. Of course we all know Biden is the intellect of the Democratic Party. Kind of a grin with a body behind it."
After Eastwood was done questioning the invisible president (which quickly spurned a Twitter account: @invisibleObama), he went on to encourage viewers to vote for Romney.
"We don't have to be be masochistic and vote for somebody that we don't want in office because they seem to be nice guys…I'll start it and you finish it…Go ahead."
"Make my day," the audience replied.
