After revealing last month she would soon be taking time off  to undergo a bone marrow transplant, Good Morning America cohost Robin Roberts announced on Monday's show that her leave of absence will begin after this Friday's broadcast.

Roberts shared with viewers that she'll be checking into the hospital next Tuesday, but noted "it still takes about 10 days after being admitted because there are some things you have to go through before the transplant actually occurs."

The coanchor's sister, Sally, is serving as her donor.

Roberts, a breast cancer survivor, was diagnosed earlier this year with myelodysplastic syndrome, a disease of the blood and bone marrow.

She had just returned to GMA last week after taking a three-week vacation to Mississippi to visit her family as well as spending time in Italy to help celebrate a friend's 50th birthday.

"I know I'm going to have a job when I come back," Roberts said with a smile this morning.

Here's looking forward to having you back, Robin!
