Nicki Minaj, she of big eyes, big hair and big….personality, will be joining Mariah Carey at the judges table for the new season of American Idol—that is, if you believe Us Weekly.
As we first reported back in July, Minaj was part of a long list of stars being considered to sign on as an Idol judge, along with Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and will.i.am. And now a source is reportedly telling Us that Minaj is "100 percent confirmed to judge American Idol."
Earlier today, Minaj tweeted this out, perhaps prepping her fans for the big announcement? "Ok barbz, getting another x-ray. When I get back, I'll have a surprise for u. *kisses u, hugs u*"
Hmmm, what could that surprise be, Nickster?
The new report comes just three days after The Hollywood Reporter claimed Minaj, Keith Urban and Enrique Iglesias were on the shortlist for the retooled four-person judging panel, with one potential sticking point being Minaj's deal with Pepsi conflicting with Coca-Cola's longtime sponsorship of Idol. (The Reporter claimed Randy Jackson, the sole original panelist still standing, would assume more of mentorship role if all goes according to plan.)
Fremantlemedia, the production company behind Idol, and Fox had no comment on this judging rumor.
And just in case you lost track, Nick Jonas and Sean "Diddy" Combs were yet more names being tossed around for the Idol gig, as well as Idol alum Adam Lambert. And country star Brad Paisley. And Pink. And probably three or four more that we'll hear about in the next couple days.
Here's hoping we get official announcements soon so we can stop all this speculating! But in the meantime, who gets your vote as a good judge for Idol?
