Joe Simpson Officially Charged With DUI, Could Face Jail Time

Jessica Simpson's famous father Joe Simpson was officially charged with two misdemeanor counts this week stemming from his arrest on suspicion of DUI earlier this month.

The Los Angeles City Attorney's office confirmed to E! News that Joe was slapped with one count of driving under the influence and one count of driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent or higher.

And the hits just keep coming for Jess and Ashlee Simpson's papa.

Turns out, he could even face jail time for his inebriated indiscretion, as the 54-year-old faces a maximum sentence if convicted of six months in jail, 36 months' probation and a $1,000 fine.

He was busted on Aug. 4 after getting pulled over by police in Sherman Oaks, Calif. He was booked and released the following day without posting bail. He's due back in court for his arraignment on the dual charges Aug. 30.
