Kristin Chenoweth's case is closed.
Chenoweth was set to play a smart and savvy political reporter in a multi-episode arc.
"It is with deep regret to inform everyone that due to my injuries, I am unable to return to The Good Wife," Chenoweth said in a statement. "[I'm] getting better slowly, and thank you everyone for your concern." People first reported the news of Chenoweth's exit.
"We enjoyed having Kristin on the show and would love to have her back when she's feeling better," CBS Television Studios said in a statement.
Chenoweth will still appear in The Good Wife's season four premiere, set to air on Monday, Sept. 30. There is a possibility for the star to return in the future.
Good Wife star Christine Baranski recently talked about Chenoweth's injury at CBS' TCA press tour with our Kristin Dos Santos, saying, "Oh, we were all very concerned. I know she's maybe filming this week because she has quite a few episodes and a marvelous role. But she seemed superexcited to be on the show. It really was a fluke. Sudden gust of wind, and of course she's a sparrow. She was a sparrow in heels that high [makes an imaginary platform with her hands], and she just went flunk [gestures toward the ground]. No, we look forward to having her back. I think she's doing well."
On Aug. 8, the pint-sized vocal powerhouse tweeted, "Today not best "pain" day. Remaining positive. (I think)"
Last month, Chenoweth was rushed to the hospital from the show's Brooklyn set after she was hit by a piece of lighting equipment. After the accident, the 44-year-old tweeted, "To all my fans: thank you for support and love! Doin better everyday. More to come when im Able!" She later added, "Sounds dramatic: but im thankful to be here. I love this life! And am grateful! GoodnIght XO"
