Why, you ask? Because the ABC breakout comedy is staging a Dawson's Creek reunion in the season two premiere! Cougar Town's Busy Philipps (aka bad girl Audrey Liddell) will be stopping by Apartment 23 when it returns for a mini-Creek reunion with James Van Der Beek.
We chatted with Van Der Beek about Philipps' upcoming appearance and the possibility of more Creek-ers stopping by in the future.
"I'm thrilled!" Van Der Beek says of Philipps guest starring on Apartment 23. "She's a good friend and she's hilarious. I can't wait to see what it all entails."
While he has yet to read the script, Van Der Beek offers up a taste of what the mini-reunion will look like. "It kind of centers around fake me pondering a reunion and what that would mean for myself, for my career, and I'm sure it'll go downhill from there," he explains.
Of course, now that Philipps is appearing on the show, we had to know if any of Van Der Beek's other Creek costars will be stopping by to play themselves soon. Maybe Philipps could persuade Michelle Williams to pop in?
"I'd love it. I'd love to have them all together, all of them at the same time," he says. "Because they all have such great senses of humor and I'd love to put that together."
With Williams off being nominated for Academy Awards and spending quality time with beau Jason Segel, Joshua Jackson filming the final season of Fringe and Katie Holmes creating a new life in New York City with daughter Suri Cruise post-split from Tom Cruise, getting the three actors on the comedy at the same time would be a challenge, Van Der Beek acknowledges.
"Honestly, scheduling would be the biggest hurdle," he says. "Thank god everybody's busy!"
Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 returns Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 9 :30 p.m. on ABC.
