Jessica Simpson's Dad Joe Arrested for DUI

Family patriarch spends night in jail, but so far, no charges have been filed

Joe Simpson has found himself in a wee bit of trouble.

The father of Jessica Simpson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department tells E! News.

The incident occurred at around 10 p.m. on Aug. 4 when the 54-year-old Simpson was pulled over by police on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks, Calif., and subsequently taken into custody.

Simpson was booked and released the following day without having to post bail.

The case has not been sent to the district attorney's office yet and police are not releasing a mug shot at this time.

Perhaps Simpson should take a cue from one of his daughter's recent tweets: "Responsibility has drastically changed my life! Saturday night drink of choice... WATER!"
