Singer-songwriter and her hubby of six years announce their split

Who said summer is sweet for every couple in Hollywood?

Willa Ford and her NHL husband of five years, Mike Modano, are divorcing, E! News confirms.

"It is with great sadness that after five years of marriage, Willa and Mike have decided to divorce," the couple tells E! News in a joint statement. "They remain friends and wish each other success and happiness."

The couple married in Athens, Texas, in 2007 after dating on and off for more than four years. This is the first marriage for both Willa and her soon-to-be ex. They have no children together.

As for their individual careers? Modana, 42, retired from the NHL's Detroit Red Wings last year after spending much of his professional hockey career with the Dallas Stars. Ford, 31, competed on season three of Dancing With the Stars and currently appears in the Starz drama Magic City.
