Joseph Gordon-Levitt has some strong words for his most worthy of adversaries: um, himself.

The Dark Knight Rises star turned spiffed-up sartorial cover boy spoke to GQ about his growing up in the spotlight, and lobbed some rather harsh words against his younger self.

In addition to blasting himself as "sort of a serious little dude—snobby," he took his self-feuding to strange new heights when he admitted that he was at risk of turning into a "hopeless ivory tower douchebag."

Um, that was harsh, Levitt. Levitt for the rebuttal?

"I really don't like this notion that some people are more important than other people," he told GQ, bringing it around to his take on the world's celebrity culture. "These stories about these elevated people called 'celebrities' teaches you that what you have to say doesn't matter. It's degrading."

With insight like that, think it's safe to say he's in no danger of reverting back to the D-bag-threatening persona of his youth.

Though his attitude-challenged past may explain why he missed out on his high school prom.

"I thought the girls my age were very frustrating," he said. "They were, like, looking in their compact mirrors and s--t, and I thought that was evil."

Evil, on a different scale of course, is what Levitt will be fighting on the big screen when The Dark Knight Rises finally hits theaters this week. And count the actor himself among those counting down the days until its release.

"This is my personal favorite of the three," he told E! News from the New York premiere of the blockbuster last night. "The drama concludes. It's not about plot, but about the character. The ending lets the character happen. It's a good ending. Not just another sequel."

Not that it needed any more help selling tickets, but we think he just managed it anyhow.
