Is some aspect of the Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes split still about to play out in public?

Before the pair announced that they had reached a private settlement, a court date was scheduled for tomorrow in New York City—and was still on the docket early this morning.

Having wrapped Oblivion in California, next up for Cruise is father-daughter time with Suripresumably in New York, where she's living the high (albeit puppyless) life with mom Katie Holmes.

Do the soon-to-be exes (or their lawyers, at least) still have to make a cameo in court first?

Nope!

Cruise's attorney Bert Fields confirmed exclusively to E! News that the actor doesn't have to appear and the hearing has been taken off the calendar.

That's good, since the pending Tom-Suri rendezvous locale has not been confirmed and, as of Monday morning, Cruise was still in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, a clerk from New York Supreme Court Judge Matthew Cooper's office also confirmed that the pair's "contested matrimonial" case was no longer on the docket.

Let this be a lesson: Out-of-court settlements equal more time for the finer things in life, like museums, ice cream and Whole Foods!
