Oscar Winning Actress Celeste Holm Dead at 95

Gentleman's Agreement star passes away Sunday in her New York home

Gentleman's Agreement star Celeste Holm has died at the age of 95.

The Oscar-winning actress, who won an Academy Award for her supporting role in Gentleman's Agreement in 1947, passed away Sunday at her home in New York, according to CNN.

"She passed peacefully in her home in her own bed with her husband and friends and family nearby," Holm's niece, Amy Phillips, told the network.

Holm was also nominated for Oscars for best supporting actress in 1949 and 1950, for her roles in Come to the Stable and All About Eve, respectively.

In addition to her film work, the accomplished actress was also a staple in the theater community, making her debut on Broadway in The Time of Your Life. She went on to act on various television series as well, guest starring on dozens of shows, including, All Star Revue.

Holm is survived by her two sons, three grandchildren and her fifth husband, opera singer Frank Basile, who she wed on her 87th birthday.
