Good news for linguistics lovers: Stephen Colbert now has his own language!

Per the Chicago Sun-Times, researchers at Northwestern University (Colbert's alma mater), created Colbertian, a language named after the funnyman, to determine if knowing multiple languages makes it easier to learn even more languages.

The conclusion?

It is easier to learn new tongues if you know more languages to begin with.

"We found that people who learned both English and Spanish at an early age and continued to speak them, better retained the words in Colbertian," James Bartolotti, a coauthor of the study, explained.

In this study, 24 subjects (12 who spoke one language, 12 who were bilingual) were tested on 24 words from Colbertian to produce the hypothesis.

We have no doubt about the truthiness of this study. Our only question is: Where can we sign up for Colbertian courses?!
