Anyone ready for a Vacation?

E! News confirms that The Office's Ed Helms is in negotiations to play Rusty Griswold, the son of Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) in the National Lampoon's Vacation franchise that was originally played by Anthony Michael Hall, for New Line Media's reboot.

Rumor spread earlier this year that Helms would be a part of the remake, but the actor quickly shot them down.

"I have no idea how and where those rumors got started," he told Moviefone in March. "I'm not aware of any conversations about me doing that movie."

Clearly, things have changed since then, including The Hangover star's initial apprehensions about the film.

"I have a hard time wrapping my head around it," he previously said. "I'm not a big fan conceptually of remakes but anything's possible. Anything done well is going to be good. If it's done poorly, it's going to be bad. I would never say never, but I'm not sure what's afoot with that project."

According to Variety, who first broke the story, Horrible Bosses writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will direct the flick based off a script they wrote, and David Dobkin will produce.

There's no word as to whether or not Chase will return for the film, but seeing how he will have more time on his hands than usual, we wouldn't rule the idea out.
