Louis C.K. Addresses Profane Sarah Palin Tweets: "I Don't Think She's Some Sacred Person"

Asked on Today if he'd write the same thing again, Louis star says, "Yeah, I probably would"

Remember when Louis C.K.was supposed to host the Radio & TV Congressional Correspondents' Dinner?

That's not the same event that Jimmy Kimmel had so much fun with (we made that mistake, too), but another high-profile hosting shindig. But the Louis star bowed out a month before the event after coming under fire for his oft-profane comedy, including some nasty tweets he posted about Alaska governor turned Fox News correspondent Sarah Palin.

So, is he sorry?

"It's caused me some problems that I wrote s--t about her," C.K. admitted when asked about the fallout Monday on the Today show while promoting the upcoming third-season premiere of Louis, Thursday on FX. "But I also...why not, man? I mean, what is she? She's just a person. I don't think she's some sacred person."

"And, to me," he added, "I was writing poems. It was like poetry to me, and I enjoyed writing them."

C.K., according to his own drunken tweets anyway, revealed that he was drunkenly tweeting from 30,000 feet up when he, er, dropped C-bombs and F-bombs in reference to Palin last summer.

Asked if he would write the same thing again, C.K. replied, "Yeah, I probably would, I think so."

"It still makes me laugh a little bit, the stuff that I wrote, when I think about it," he continued. "I thought it was well-written."

The tweets proved fuel for Greta Van Susteren's fire, though, prompting her to threaten to boycott the correspondents' dinner if C.K.—who "denigrates all women and looks to the crowd to laugh"—remained as host.
