David Arquette has become a man in the eyes of the Jewish community. Now it's time to become a single man in the eyes of California.

The newly Bar Mitzvahed actor has filed for divorce from Courteney Cox, more than a year and a half since they announced they had split up, according to documents obtained by E! News.

Arquette listed the predictable irreconcilable differences as the reason for their breakup, but the parents of daughter Coco, who will be 8 tomorrow, have seemingly been getting along great as separate entities.

"We are comfortable with the boundaries that we have established for each other during this separation and we hope that our friends, family, fans and the media also show us respect, dignity, understanding and love at this time as well," the couple said in a joint statement when they separated in October 2010.

And they weren't kidding. They are often out and about with Coco, Courteney was in the audience with her daughter at nearly every taping when Arquette was on Dancing With the Stars last year, and Arquette had a guest arc on this past season of Cougar Town.

Oddly enough, though they've been living apart for some time, Arquette lists their official date of separation as December 31. He is asking for joint physical and legal custody and did not make a request for spousal or child support in his filing.

And while the documents were just released today, on what happens to be Cox and Arquette's 13th wedding anniversary, he actually filed the paperwork last Friday.

While Arquette dated Entertainment Tonight's Christina McLarty for the better part of this year before the L.A.-to-New York distance got to them, Cox said on The Howard Stern Show (Arquette's old sounding board) said in February that she not "had a man" since her husband.
