Will Forte knows how hard it is to say goodbye to Saturday Night Live.

The MacGruber funnyman spent eight seasons on the show before leaving in 2010.

So what's Forte's advice for new newly minted former SNL stars Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg?

Read on to find out what he told us at last night's premiere of That's My Boy...

"It just takes time," Forte said. "It's really sad when you first leave because it's such a wonderful experience that it's weird once the show starts up again and you're not on it.

"It's really, really hard for the first season, but especially until Christmas," he continued. "It's really hard to bring yourself to watch the show. But at the same time, you are rooting for your friends on the show so you do watch it."

As we told you yesterday, there wasn't any one reason in particular why Samberg decided to exit SNL. "I felt like it was my time," Samberg said. "Let's just hope I get some work after SNL."

For those of you keeping score, Samberg, 33, stars alongside Rashida Jones in the upcoming indie flick Celeste and Jesse Forever. He also lends his voice to Adam Sandler's animated comedy Hotel Transylvania with Miley Cyrus Selena Gomez.

As for Wiig, the 38-year-old funnylady is currently filming The Secret Life of Walter Mitty with Ben Stiller and will also be seen alongside Annette Bening in the comedy Imogene. She's also working on a script with her Bridesmaids cowriter Annie Mumolo.

(Saturday Night Live and E! Online are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)

Now we want to hear from you. How do you think Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg will do after Saturday Night Live? Chime in below.
