Eddie Murphy Dead?! Actor Alive and Well After Yet Another Internet Murder

UPDATE: Twitter really has it in for Eddie Murphy. Just a couple months after his supposed death by winter sports, the funny man was once again the victim of an Internet hoax by the very same seemingly insurmountable rumor. Rest assured, he is alive and well. Though probably a little agitated with social media.

Call it death by a thousand Web rumors.

For the third time in as many months, word spread like wildfire on social media sites and Twitter that Eddie Murphy met a tragic end, having been killed in a snowboarding accident in Zermatt, Switzerland.

But as E! News can confirm., such reports are complete B.S.

As E! News previously investigated, they are the product of pranksters at the Global Associated News, a macabre site behind a rash of similar hoaxes—whether it was falling off a cliff in New Zealand (the purported fate of poor Jeff Goldbum) or the ill-timed mishaps in the Swiss and Austrian Alps that supposedly took the lives of Adam Sandler, Charlie Sheen, Ryan Gosling and, yes, the Trading Places star on two prior occasions (see here and here).

Alas, the only death Murphy's had to deal with these days was the awful demise of his latest comedy, A Thousand Words, at the box office, which has grossed a paltry $18 million since hitting theaters in March.

Thankfully, the funnyman is doing just fine.
