Mel B can't get enough of reality television.
Not only has she competed on Dancing With the Stars and cohosted The Singing Office with Joey Fatone, but now the former Spice Girl exclusively tells me she's hooking up with Project Runway creator Eli Holzman to try and create a new reality show around her Catty Couture clothing line.
But it's so early in the process, Mel declines to give too much away. All she'll say right now is, "It's a thing that's in development that I'm really excited about."
In the last week or so, Mel's been tackling another big job: cleaning out her 10-bedroom estate back in her native U.K.
She just put much of its contents on the auction block to benefit British children's cancer organization CLIC Sargent. Some of the most prized possessions up for sale include pieces of her Spice Girls wardrobe. "I was going through some of my old stuff, like when I used to wear the big platform Buffalo boots and my 9-year-old daughter was like, 'Mommy, you used to wear this?' " Mel says. "She was like, 'This is weird.' "
A self-described hoarder, Mel says it was time to let go of her belongings, especially since she's been living in L.A. for the last six years. "You've got, like, a baby grand piano from Africa and a table for 16 from an old church in France," she says. "But then there are regular things like a toaster or a Spice Girls Polaroid camera."
Also on her plate is a fitness DVD she decided to produce after friends and even strangers kept asking her about getting back into shape after she gave birth to her and Eddie Murphy's daughter, Angel, in June 2007.
"I said, 'I don't want it to be a regular fitness DVD. I don't want it to be pretty, where you don't sweat, and it's all exercises that don't work,'" Mel explains. "I want to show you exactly what I do three to four times a week."
And that, she says, includes the not-so-pretty painful side of working out. She laughs, "I'm hurting as much as you're hurting."
