But the royal family's reveling wasn't without its bittersweet moments, and in their wide-ranging interview with Katie Couric, airing tonight, Prince William and Prince Harry discussed the notable and heavy absence of their late mother, Princess Diana, during the otherwise celebratory time.
"No, of course it was [hard]," Harry said. "You know, she—I think she had the best seat in the house, probably. But yeah, she would have loved to have been there."
And according to the third in line to the throne, Will and Kate Middleton's wedding day itself isn't the only thing Diana would have cherished.
"She would have loved Kate," he added.
Wills, interviewed separately from his brother, was also inevitably asked about his late mother, and said that he worked hard to maintain his stiff upper lip on the day.
"It was very difficult," he said. "I sort of prepared myself beforehand, so that I wasn't…I was sort of mentally prepared, so I didn't want any wobbling lips or anything going on.
"It's the one time since she's died where I've thought to myself, it would be fantastic if she was here. And just how sad really for her, more than anything, not being able to see it. Because I think she would have loved the day and I think hopefully she'd be very proud of us both for the day.
"I'm just very sad that she's never going to get a chance to meet Kate."
The royal wedding chat wasn't all a downer, though, and Harry shared that it wasn't the bride and groom that got a case of pre-wedding jitters.
"I was massively nervous," he said. "Everybody was nervous. And the whole thing was a bit of a blur to be honest, because, um, there was God knows how many millions or billions of eyes focused on us. Luckily, mainly those two."
And it hasn't let up since.
