Reese Witherspoon may have only had a small role in drama flick Mud, but that didn't stop the thesp from stealing the show at the flick's Cannes Film Festival premiere.
The 36-year-old pregnant star hit the red carpet Saturday, showing off her baby bump in a jersey LBD and fuchsia stilettos.
Witherspoon, who has a supporting role in the film alongside Matthew McConaughney, said at a press conference that Mud's script reminded her of the way she grew up in Tennessee and she was drawn to the project as a result.
"I grew up with my brother in a creek, riding dirt bikes, dirt fishing, everything you see the boys in the movie doing," Witherspoon said, according to People. "When I read Jeff's script, it felt like home. It's a beautiful story about the place I'm from."
Meanwhile, Mud director Jeff Nichols said he wanted the This Means War star for the film.
"Even if her screen time is limited and, bless her heart, I kept her in a motel room most of the time, she still managed to look good," Nichols said at the conference. "I needed someone who, when she showed up, it was like, she's here! She had to be believable and stand out at the same time."
Sticking to the topic at hand, the actress kept mum on details about her baby during the press conference.
The Oscar winner is expected to deliver her first child with hubby Jim Toth this fall.
