Anne Hathaway's ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri has been behind bars since 2008. But on Thursday, E! News can confirm that the 30-year-old Italian will be released from federal prison.

Because Follieri is not a United States citizen, upon his release he will immediately be deported to his native Italy.

Follieri, who dated Hathaway from 2004 to 2008, pleaded guilty to conspiracy, wire fraud and money-laundering changes Sept. 10, 2008. He lied about ties to the Vatican in order to buy church properties at below-market prices, then flipped them for a quick profit. The scheme raked in millions for the Italian import, financing his—and an unknowing Hathaway's—extravagant lifestyle.

He used the funds to pay for an opulent apartment in New York City, lavish vacations, private jets, yacht rentals, wine, cosmetics, expensive dinners and even jewelry for Hathaway, according to the U.S. Attorney. After his plea, Follieri agreed to pay restitution in the amount of $2.44 million and to forfeit 12 watches and nine pieces of jewelry.

Hathaway has clearly moved on from Follieri: The 29-year-old actress is engaged to Adam Shulman and is also starring in The Dark Knight Rises, which hits theaters July 20.
