"Being asked to play at the closing celebrations for the Paralympic athletes in London is such a great honor for us," said the frontman in a statement on Coldplay's website. "We are so happy to be involved. It will be one of the biggest nights of our lives and we're very excited to try to create a performance for the last night of the games that will close London 2012 in style."

The special one-off concert will take place at the Olympic Stadium attended by athletes with physical disabilities from around the globe and be broadcast to a worldwide audience of over 750 million.

After winning four Billboard Awards last night, including Top Rock Artist and Album, Coldplay is gearing up for a string of U.K. dates that kick off May 29 in Coventry's Ricoh Stadium and includes Manchester's Manchester Stadium and a multi-night stand at London's Emirates Stadium.
