DJ AM is "so lucky to be alive."
The celebrity spinner sent the sentiment via text to Paris Hilton, who relayed the message during an appearance on Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show.
"All of the love and support means a lot to him. He's such a good person," said Hilton of her longtime friend, who barely escaped a deadly plane crash.
"I think God saved him."
Hilton said that she hasn't spoken to him or his fellow survivor, Travis Barker, over the phone yet, but that she and sister Nicky had exchanged texts with AM "the other day."
AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein and who was once engaged to Nicole Richie, recounted to Hilton "how scary it was" as his Learjet burst into flames while trying to take off in Columbia, S.C.
"It's so scary. I am so scared to go on small private planes now," said Hilton, adding that she learned about the Sept. 19 crash as she was on a plane landing in Milan.
"I will never take that kind of plane again," said Hilton.
AM was discharged from a Georgia burn center on Friday and flew back to Los Angeles, where he is being treated on an outpatient basis. Barker checked out of the hospital Monday and is heading back to L.A. on a specially equipped bus.
