Forewarning: Some images, once observed, can never be unseen—this may be one of those times.

We bring you Tom Cruise—yep, that's the onetime star of the Mission: Impossible franchise lurking beneath the guyliner and the fake tats—on the cover of W. The shoot was part of a promotion for the actor's upcoming turn as Stacee Jaxx in the movie musical Rock of Ages.

Let's give the guy an A for effort. Before now he probably has never, ever, worn a skull on any part of his body, much less a belt buckle...

We also want to point out that there is some serious acting talent on this cover. We mean, of course, those two nameless ladies flanking the 49-year-old star. Whoever those supermodels are, give them both Oscars for their pretending, really, really well, that they want to sleep with Cruise. Bravissima! We mean that sincerely.

As for the rest of this tableau—the mama-never-loved-me-style heart tattoo, the gun pointing to Cruise's dong, the nail polish that may or may not have been stolen from Ozzy's tour bus—our jury is out.
