Prepare yourselves for more New York, more D.C., more sex, more politics and, most important, more laughs. HBO just renewed freshman half-hour comedies Girls and Veep for second seasons.
We still might be early in the first seasons, but how many more episodes has HBO ordered?
Haven't had a chance to check them out yet? Girls follows a group of four friends in New York, but that's where the comparisons to Sex and the City end. Sometimes uncomfortably honest and darkly funny, Girls explores the more realistic side to struggling to succeed after college.
Veep follows neurotic Vice President Selina Meyer (Louis-Dreyfus) as she discovers the job isn't exactly what she imagined. The ensemble cast, led by Arrested Development's Tony Hale, engages in what 30 Rock mocked last week as "Sorkin-esque repartee"—only less earnest.
With HBO showing such faith in these female-driven comedies, it look like the new queens of comedy have been crowned!
Are you excited to see more from these funny ladies? Head to the comments!
