The honor is in recognition of the 27-year-old's charitable work on behalf of servicemen and women.

A spokesperson for St. James's Palace released a statement saying Harry will be accepting the award "on behalf of his brother, Prince William, and their joint work through the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry," adding that he "will use the award to pay tribute to British and American veterans' charities for their achievements in helping torehabilitate wounded servicemen and women and to reintegrate those who have served in the Armed Forces into civilian life."

Harry has worked with several charities, including Help for Heroes and Walking With the Wounded.

He is scheduled to accept the award at a dinner on May 7.
