Robin Gibb is not alone as he fights for his life.

The Bee Gees singer has been in a coma for the last week, and his wife Dwina Gibb tells Ireland's Impartial Reporter that family members been coming and going from his bedside, playing music and singing to "try to bring him back."

"His brother Barry, his wife Linda and son Stephen came over from America," says Dwina, who's been married to the disco-era hitmaker since the 1980s. "Barry was singing to him. Thousands of people are saying prayers every day."

And she's "very grateful" for all of them. But what of reports that Gibb is showing signs of awareness?

London's Sun is reporting that Gibb seemed to respond to the sound of brother Barry's voice last night and even made an attempt at speech, but no one has confirmed that on the record.

The "Stayin' Alive" singer was in and out of the hospital for surgery to battle chronic intestinal troubles (his twin brother Maurice died in 2003 of complications from a twisted intestine), then revealed in November that he was battling colon cancer that had spread to his liver.

"It's taken a toll, naturally, but the strange thing is that I've never felt seriously ill," Gibb wrote in the Daily Mail in January. "I've mostly felt great."

He also told the BBC in February that he had made a "spectacular recovery" from cancer, but he required emergency surgery in March for a perforated intestine caused by a blood clot. Gibb fell into a coma earlier this month after contracting pneumonia.
