The country superstar has been hit with a lawsuit filed by his ex-wife and former manager, Elizabeth Travis, which alleges he failed to live up to the terms of their post-divorce management contract and giving her the boot.
Per the suit filed Thursday in Nashville and obtained by E! News, Randy's former missus claims that following their 2010 divorce the pair reached an agreement on their professional relationship in March 2011—only for Travis to breach it five months later.
In court documents, Elizabeth asserted the "I Told You So" crooner "intentionally interfered with" the ability of her to perform her duties and undermined the "effectiveness of [his] career in the entertainment industry."
Consequently, she accused Travis of terminating their contract without prior written warning.
Per the complaint, "[Randy] had a large truck, an armed guard and several other men" turn up at her Music Row office and remove "practically all of the property and business records" from her custody, including computers, photographs and framed record plaques.
Elizabeth, who had acted as Travis' manager for more than 30 years and was married to him for the last 19, is seeking a judgment in her favor including damages and attorneys fees.
For his part, the entertainer and his lawyers are gearing up for a fight.
"It is unfortunate that it's come to this," Travis said in a statement released by his publicist. "We believe the lawsuit lacks merit and that we have legal defenses to her claims."
The 52-year-old singer has been going through a rough patch of late. In February, he was busted for public intoxication and last September he briefly collapsed onstage during a concert in Texas.
