E! News confirms that a little over two months after announcing their separation, Heidi Klum has filed for divorce from Seal this afternoon at Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking physical custody of their four kids.
The couple have also reached a "postnuptiual agreement" regarding the division of property. In addition, Klum is asking that her legal name be restored to just Heidi Klum.
"While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate," the duo says in a joint statement when they first separated.
"We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition. We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children's sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy."
Each were seen continuing to sport their wedding bands for a bit after publicizing the news, until finally going bare on that finger. And while appearing on Ellen, Klum's husband of almost seven years admitted that the split was surprising.
"I think we were shocked," Seal explained. "You go into these things with the greatest intentions when you say 'I do' and you say ''Till death do us part.' Those vows hold value. They are not just words. These things happen."
