Eva Longoria on Desperate Housewives Trial: "It's a Stain on Our Legacy as a Hit Show"

As Eva Longoria prepares to leave Wisteria Lane for good, the actress is looking back on the show that made her a star.

"I remember sitting in the trailer and [costar Marcia Cross] saying, 'You know, your life's about to change. Our lives are about to change," Longoria told Katie Couric on Good Morning America while recalling those first days working on the ABC series that is ending this season.

Of course, no discussion about the popular program would be complete without bringing up Nicollette Sheridan's recent wrongful termination case against the network, part of which included Longoria's former costar claiming show creator Marc Cherry had hit her during a rehearsal. A mistrial was subsequently declared.

"I was surprised that there was even a trial and it went that far," Longoria said. "I love Nicollette, and I love Marc Cherry, and I love our work environment. It's a stain on our legacy as a hit show. It was just unfortunate, the whole thing."

Another headline-grabber, naturally, was Longoria's divorce from NBA star Tony Parker in 2010.

"I think I handled it as gracefully as I could and it was painful, but life goes on," said Longoria. "I always said I hold onto the love and not the loss. I think the press also wanted me to hate him and villainize him. And I don't. And I didn't."

Meanwhile, the series finale of Desperate Housewives is set to air on May 13.
