That Hugh Grant is quite the charmer.

Last night the 51-year-old actor attended the London premiere of his new film The Pirates: Band of Misfits, where he got cozy with a parrot (was that thing real? The jury's still out) and brought along someone very special as his plus-one…

Ex-girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley's 9-year-old son, Damian!

The duo was all smiles before the premiere of the animated film. And although Grant and Damian's mom split in 2000, they've happily been able to remain friends.

The actor, who became a father himself to a baby girl named Tabitha last year, jumped at the chance to play a Pirate Captain in the family-friendly flick. "I've always dreaded the sea," he told Metro UK. "In fact, I get terribly seasick. I would hate to have to [play a Pirate Captain] in real life."

So just why did Grant sign on for his first animated role? "I got a phone call and they said Aardman Animations are making a film. By the time that sentence had finished I think I'd signed the contract," he said. "If you get a call from Aardman Studios I think you know you're going to be in something quite classy and quite exciting, so of course you're going to say yes."

The Pirates: Band of Misfits, directed by Peter Lord and Jeff Nevitt, opens April 27.
