During an otherwise harmless interview with London's Evening Standard last week, Goldie Hawn seemed to inadvertently let quite a big cat out of the bag: specifically, that daughter Kate Hudson had secretly tied the knot with her baby daddy, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy.
As rumors go, it's not such an outlandish one—after all, the couple has been doing their level best to maintain a low profile of late, and they haven't exactly been eager to let the press into their personal life (that is, unless staring down paparazzi with a plastic bag on your head is suddenly a welcoming gesture?).
But is it true? By jove, this rumor is...
So false!
Apparently, something about Goldie's interview was lost in translation. English-to-English sure can be tricky sometimes.
The offending comments, supposedly printed in the Evening Standard's ES magazine and widely circulated by the Vancouver Sun, has Hawn proclaiming, "My kids are fantastic with their children, they have an amazing parental ethic and I'm very proud of them for that.
"When my daughter Kate married an English rock star it didn't worry me; all that matter is that the relationship is a good one. What people do is not necessarily who they are."
And what they're quoted as saying is not necessarily what they've said.
Amid runaway reports that Hudson had taken her second trip down the aisle, Hawn took to (where else?) her Twitter page to set the record straight.
Asked by a follower if her daughter had actually secretly wed Bellamy or if the press had simply twisted her words, she declared the latter.
"Darling once again twisted the truth," she wrote. "They aren't married. Xx."
And just in case that wasn't clear enough, she returned to the site yesterday to further clear things up.
"Baby they never get it right!!"
