Questionable birthday cakes aside, Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus have a solid T-Town relaysh, especially since the sexy twosome met when she was only 16.

And as Liam is set to take on his biggest role yet in The Hunger Games, the hunky Australian opens up to Details about his famous GF and whether he's ready for the ultimate fame that comes with the franchise.

So, what did the dude have to say, and what's the deal with the Robert Pattinson connection?!

"She makes me really happy," Liam gushed in the March issue of Details when asked about his Last Song costar and real life GF.

He continued, defending his relaysh with Miles and explaining how the duo fell in love on set:

"When you start, you want to be professional, but when you're filming those scenes with someone and pretending to love them, you're not human if you don't feel something."

Aww, what an adorable Valentine's Day surprise! And it's so sweet to hear Liam swoon over Miley—after all, dude's only 22 and has just landed a heartthrob role in The Hunger Games—how nice to see Liam stay grounded and loyal even with his status as such a rising star.

But don't think Liam's just a sweet-talker. Dude's also very protective of his gal, recounting the notorious Bob Marley cake incident where Miley was caught on video joking she "smokes too much weed":

"She's in a room full of her best friends," he recounted with frustration. "And you have one person who comes in there and videos it. The poor girl can't have one night where she can feel safe in her own world. It's ridiculous."

A tough dude with a soft side and not to mention an accent that's sexy as hell. Miles, we say you've found a winner!

But even though Liam may be ever loyal to Mi, don't think he isn't quickly picking up on how to play the Hollywood game:

"I've never met [Robert] Pattinson," he 'fessed when asked about the Twilight versus The Hunger Games comparisons.

Still, he later admits, "It's all about how you look in this town."

You're catching on quick, L., now, might be a good time to rethink the penis cake then, no?
