California love and equality for all!
On Tuesday, a federal appeals court in San Francisco ruled that Proposition 8, a measure to ban same-sex marriages in California, was a violation of the U.S. Constitution. (The Golden State had allowed same-sex marriages, but Prop 8 passed with 52% of the vote in 2008, which brought an end to the practice.)
Celebs couldn't have been happier by the court's progressive decision and took to Twitter to express their excitement…
Here's what a few different stars had to say:
"Mitch & Cam have a question for you. @AFER #prop8 #MarriageEquality," Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson wrote on whosay, posting a photo of himself and his sitcom partner Eric Stonestreet with a sign inquiring, "How could you not want to see us tie the knot?"
"No #prop8!!! Yay for equality! :) :) :) Happy dance!" —Ricki Lake (@rickilake)
