Considering her status as a style icon, this was only a matter of time.
Branching out beyond music, Rihanna is taking her trendsetting ways to British television as she's signed on to executive produce and appear in a new reality show for Sky Living HD that will seek out undiscovered designers and help them break into the popular U.K. fashion scene.
Eat your heart out, Project Runway.
The show represents another notch in the Barbadian beauty's belt as far expanding her fashion influence—at least across the pond.
Per the announcement put out by Sky Living, Rihanna has tapped 26-year-old English singer Nicola Roberts of the all-female group Girls Aloud to front a search for Britain's most promising designers over a 10-week period. The "S&M" hitmaker will join her in challenging contestants to create outfits for a slew of musicians and celebrities. The final task will find the aspiring designers dreaming up a unique stage costume for Rihanna's Wireless performance in London's Hyde Park in July 2012.
As part of her producing duties, Rihanna will supervise the fashion show's casting as well as editing in post-production.
"I've always had a great love of fashion. It's a constant source of inspiration in my life, and is a big reason why I've grown into the person and artist I am today," the pop diva said. "I have been very fortunate to work with some truly amazing designers and stylists throughout my career, and they have been instrumental in making sure my creative vision reaches the stage. I am excited to follow the journey of our aspiring contestants and see how their individuality influences their efforts during the course of the show."
And no doubt she'll get some cool duds out of it too. The yet-to-be-titled series is slated to premiere on Sky Living HD next summer.
