It's a lot more serious than a bacterial infection this time.

An ambulance picked up Heather Locklear from her home in Westlake Village, Calif., and took her to the hospital today after Locklear's sister made a frantic call to 911, saying she was afraid the actress was going to harm herself.

"Patrol Units, Fire and Ambulances responded to an emergency medical call," Captain Mike Aranda, PIO of the Ventura County Sheriff's department, told E! News.

"Once on scene, paramedics determined that she [Locklear] needed to be transported to a medical facility and, from my understanding, she was taken to Los Robles Hospital in Thousands Oaks. Once there, the medical staff of Los Robles was taking care of her medical situation."

Reports claim the Melrose Place star mixed prescription drugs with alcohol, causing her sister to worry and believe Heather's health was in danger, which led to paramedics examining Locklear and deciding it'd be best for her to be hospitalized. However, Captain Aranda could not confirm these details due to HIPAA laws.

Heather recently made headlines in November after her engagement to beau of four years, Jack Wagner, was called off.
