Now that there is some powerful cinema.

Kate Middleton may be celebrating her 30th birthday today in a low-key way, but last night she had a star-studded night on the town while attending her first-ever royal movie premiere of War Horse.

And while an event of that magnitude alone might've been enough to make the duchess downright emotional, it was something else entirely that made her cry.

They don't call these movies weepies for nothing!

While being interviewed by the BBC this morning, the director of the emotional film, Steven Spielberg, was asked if Kate was—as most moviegoers seem to be—"in a right state at the end of it."

He didn't hesitate before answering: yes. Yes, she was.

"I was sitting next to her, all I know is at one point, my wife—who was sitting to my right—right in front of my face, she passed a Kleenex to the Duchess of Cambridge, and I just saw the Kleenex going across my face and I saw it arrive and stop," he relayed.

"I didn't want to intrude on her experience watching War Horse, so I never glanced over."

But were hers the only royal eyes that got dabbed last night?

"According to my peripheral vision, certainly the duchess," Spielberg said. "I don't know about the duke."

Hmmm…we'll just have to save our Prince of Wails jokes for another time, then.
