It would be an understatement to say that Kate Middleton's 29th year was one for the record books: she married her Prince Charming William, became a duchess, a fashion icon, a globally beloved celebrity and, part and parcel with all that, one of the most watched (and speculated upon) women in the world.

Today, the royal newlywed says goodbye to her 20s and enters what can only be described as a highly-anticipated third decade. So, with a professional party planner for a sister and the world as her oyster, will Kate be celebrating the big 3-0 with a party befitting her royal stature?

Not exactly. True to classy form, a rep for the royal isn't releasing details of the soiree, telling E! News simply, "I'm afraid all we are saying regarding the duchess' 30th birthday is that she will spend it privately with the duke."

Fortunately for royal watchers, not everyone is keeping quite so mum on Kate's party plans, with the most pervasive reports indicating that sister Pippa Middleton has taken the reigns of the celebrations and has organized a night full of cocktails and karaoke all tied up in an '80s-themed bash (the decade of Kate's birth) for her sister.

Whispers of Wills' birthday gift for his missus have also been a hot topic of conversation, with a specially commissioned oil painting of his wife among the items reportedly atop his shopping list. However, British media is also reporting that regardless of Kate's party plans, she's asked well-wishers to forego buying her gifts and instead donate to charity.

Meanwhile, Kate is not only having a stellar start to her 30s, she also had quite the high-profile sendoff to her 20s last night, joining Prince William for her first ever movie premiere appearance, showing up in London's Leicester Square for the red carpet premiere of War Horse.

Will and Kate joined the families of 600 serving and ex-serving military personnel at the screening, which was held in benefit of the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry. They also attended a private reception with the cast of the film after the premiere—not a bad way to spend an evening.

Happy birthday, Kate!
