Kim Kardashian had to skip Demi Lovato's Seventeen mag luncheon today, but no matter.

She was there in spirit—well, email...

"Thank you for always being a true friend, for always following your heart and for being an inspiration to me and countless other girls around the world," Kim wrote in an email that was read by Seventeen's editor in chief Ann Shoket during the gathering at The Redbury hotel's Cleo restaurant in Hollywood. "Your strength and kindness will never go unnoticed."

The "Skyscraper" singer has credited Kardashian for helping her get through her most trying times, including a stint at a rehab center.

Kardashian ended her email by saying, "I am looking forward to seeing you grow both personally even more and to create many more unforgettable memories together."

Another one of Lovato's besties, Selena Gomez, also sent an emotional email. "You have courage—courage to want to change to be better for yourself," Gomez's email read, in part. "The amount of respect I have for you is indescribable. You have gone through one of the hardest chapters in your life and I praise you for wanting to share that journey and walk away from it all as a better person.

"Thank you for trusting me and wanting me there during that hard time," Gomez continued. "I hope you know how much I love you and how proud I am of the role model that you have become."

Lovato is on the cover of the just-released February issue of Seventeen. A headline on the cover reads, "Demi Lovato's Fresh Start: How She Found Courage For A Major Comeback."

Keep up the great work, Ms. Lovato.

And what does Lovato have to say about all this? Make sure to come back here later on to find out what she told me, including which music superstar she would love to work with.
