Is Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks studio really pushing for a Halo movie in 2012—or is that just more geek dreaming?

This is a zombie of a rumor, isn't it? Popping up afresh every once in a while only to die again?
I hate to shoot this story in the head with a plasma rifle, but...
A Halo movie in 2012 is really pushing it, son. A film about shooting things in space will, by its very nature, require months of postproduction tomfoolery alone, not to mention all the time it would take to create the sets, costumes and critters in advance. As for shooting a movie, that usually takes at least a month.
And it's already November.
To put a final nail through this rumor's skull (oh come on, humor me here) there was a forum post recently from someone who would know. And the indication was in the negative.
The post came from 343 Industries' Frank O'Connor, big shot in the world of the ever-expanding Halo franchise, on the site NeoGAF. The newest incarnation of a movie rumor apparently came out of a French fan site, which lead O'Connor to post, "This is ow you say? Ah yes. Ze nonsense."
Je désolé.
