Tick-tock…One of the first casualties of The X Factor is taking advantage of each one of her 15 minutes, making good on her awkwardly shoehorned-in promise on last night's show that despite her ouster at the hands of Simon Cowell, she would be releasing her new music video very soon.
Well, that time has come.
Judge polarizer extraordinaire Simone Battle released her debut pop opus "He Likes Boys" last night, just hours after getting booted from Cowell's girls group (to the not-so-hidden delight of Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger).
So how is it?
Well, it's obvious that no one believes in Simone Battle's star potential more than Simone Battle. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. And if you're gonna channel a current pop star, Katy Perry is certainly one of the best to take a page from.
As the title suggests, the song chronicles what happens when a gal realizes her BFF is, well, just not that into her. Add a dance break, an homage to Clueless and lines like "Guess it is kind of odd he's such a fan of Lady Gaga," and you certainly have all the makings of a hit.
Whether or not it catches on remains to be seen. But hey, worse songs have stormed the 'net.
