Which Buffy Star Just Staked Out a New Name?

The paperwork has been filed, but...by who?!

Don't worry, kids. The Hellmouth is closed. There's no one coming after you.

And yet, one of the many fan favorites from the seminal Buffy the Vampire Slayer series just legally hacked off a piece of his or her name.

But the star isn't going incognito. In fact, the former demon fighter's new legal name is the one you already know and love...

It's nothing to howl at the moon over, but we bet you didn't know that Oz was actually played by Seth Gesshel-Green.

Yup, Seth Green decided now was as good a time as any to legally remove the "Gesshel," his mother Barbara's maiden name, from the hyphenate he was born with. So now he's just a regular ole Green, like his dad, Herb.

His parents divorced when he was a kid, so we're not sure what prompted the Robot Chicken creator's decision, though of course, per documents filed in L.A. Superior Court, it now reflects the 37-year-old's "professional stage name."

The one he's had for 27 years.

Oh well, maybe it's just less surname baggage now for Clare, his wife of nearly six months.
