Funny, it's always been Mr. Bond we expected to provide the intel. Not his nemesis.

But that's just what happened this week, when a loose-lipped Javier Bardem put an end to months of speculation and confirmed during an interview with Nightline (ostensibly to discuss his humanitarian ways) that he would in fact be starring as the villain in Skyfall Bond 23.

Better luck next time, Ralph Fiennes. So what did Bardem have to say about his—quite literally—bad-ass gig?

Not much, unfortunately.

Christiane Amanpour gets bragging rights for getting the news out of Bardem, asking the Oscar winner about his tendency to play villains, and hinting at his next role—and the actor seemed only too happy to oblige by confirming the casting coup.

"I am very excited," he said. "My parents took me to watch the movies and I saw all of them. So to play that is going to be fun. They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details."

And by "many," he means "any at all."

But hey, we'll take what we can get.
