Biggest Loser's Sam Poueu Out of ICU

Reality competition star appears to be on the mend after suffering internal injuries and head trauma after falling off a friend's apartment building

Sam Poueu barely survived a four-story tumble off the roof of a San Francisco building earlier this month.

But now, after three surgeries to treat many internal injuries and head trauma suffered in the Sept. 3 accident, theres' some really good news for the former Biggest Loser contestant.

The 25-year-old security guard has been taken out of intensive care and seems to be on the mend, his family and the family of his fiancée, Stephanie Anderson, said in statement to People.

"We are excited to share that Sam is out of ICU and is currently in stable condition," they said. "He still has a long road of recovery ahead of him, but we are so encouraged by the progress he continues to make daily. He is talking and visiting with family members and close friends who come to see him in the hospital, and is so grateful, as are we, for all the love, suport and prayers he has received."

Poueu, who is now working as a trainer at the Biggest Loser Fitness Ridge Resort in Malibu, was a contestant on season nine of the weight-loss competition. 

He suffered the fall after attending a friend's birthday party. He headed up to the rooftop when the door locked behind him. He then tried to climb down a fire-escape ladder but during the attempt, he lost his footing a plummeted several stories, ending up in critical condition.

He sustained severe injuries to his head and pelvis, torn ligaments, a punctured lung and a broken leg, but had remained conscious.
