Before he said "I do," Kris Humphries had something even more important to say to Kim Kardashian. Or rather, to ask her.

And while E!'s super special, two-night nuptial bonanza, Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event, doesn't air until next month, last night's Keeping Up With the Kardashians season finale gave us another glimpse into the making of the wedding of the year.

In particular, the bended-knee, rose petal-strewn, candlelight mood-setting proposal.

After knocking around a few question-popping ideas with his sister (thank God the singing proposal was a no-go), Kris got to work, romantically spelling out the words "Will you marry me?" in red rose petals on the floor of her bedroom and arranging tea lights in hearts around the room.

And then the pièce de résistance: taking a knee and awaiting the arrival—after taking deep breaths, hiding the ring behind his back and bracing himself on the coffee table—for Kim's arrival.

And she did not disappoint.

Before she'd even fully entered the room, Kim gasped and broke out into a wide smile upon reading the rose petal proposal on the floor.

"Kim," Kris began.

"Oh my God," she replied, moving toward him and grabbing his non-hidden hand. "You're crazy."

Perhaps wanting to get the question out of the way, Kris then offered up his adorable blink-and-you'll-miss-it proposal: "Will you marry me?" he asked, producing the ring.

"Oh, my Go—yes," Kim replied. "Oh my god, I'm like shaking."

"Oh my god, this is so crazy, this is so perfect," she said, sealing the proposal with a kiss.

"You're perfect," Kris replied. Are you taking notes, fellas?

Still, judging by Kim's reaction, she was indeed shocked at the proposal—and her surprise didn't wear off right away.

"Oh my God. Oh my God," she repeated. "Oh my God, we're engaged."

And now, married.

"It's so beautiful and it's so sweet and I just know Kris is so nervous," she said later of the proposal. "This is like the moment that every girl has dreamed of their entire life."

"This is the biggest moment of my life and it's very nerve-wracking," Kris explained during his own post-mortem. As for how he finally decided on his mode and method of proposing…

"I chose her bedroom to ask her to marry me there because to me our love is simple and I don't want all the distractions and everything crazy going around, I just want it to be in her home, quiet and perfect."

Here's to that happily ever after, guys!
