Miranda Lambert says it was pretty much love at first sight the night she met Blake Shelton and sang a duet with him—there was just one little problem.

What to do about that wife of his.

The country songstress is revealing in a new Dateline interview airing tonight that she was well aware Shelton was hitched, but with the chemistry she felt with him, there was no stopping their feelings.

So what did she say about their inevitable hookup...and his horrible haircut?

"So you and Blake met on stage. Or you met, you met a little bit before. You get on stage and you're singing a song. And everybody who watched you two on stage that night said that there was something special there," says interviewer Hoda Kotb. "Like you were actually watching, they thought, two people fall in love on stage right in front of their eyes. Did you feel that?"

"I didn't know what to do with it," Lambert replies. "It was like my first duet with some other country star. And I didn't know if it was just initial butterflies because of that or, I don't know what it was. It was just this draw to each other."

And she admits she knew The Voice star was married—she even saw his wedding pics.

"Well I knew he was married," Lambert says. "I had seen their wedding picture in Country Weekly. I knew better, like this is off-limits...Because my parents are private investigators, for God's sakes. I've seen this my whole life, affairs. And I'm like, 'If all people didn't know better, I know better than this.'"

But his marriage wasn't the only hurdle they had to overcome.

Kotb asks, "So what was it about him that made him unique?"

"The mullet...He had sort of kind of mullet at that point," replies Lambert. "He said it wasn't a mullet...I was like, 'If it looks like a mullet and acts like a mullet, it's a mullet.' "

Despite his grooming issues, the duo has persevered for five years, tying the knot back in May. Guests were served venison that Lambert shot herself.

Any woman with a hankering for Blake, better take heed. Miranda is well-armed and knows how to use her gun.
