Erstwhile Real Housewives of Atlanta star Lisa Wu-Hartwell has officially separated from her former NFL pro husband, Ed Hartwell.
Wu-Hartwell took to Twitter on Saturday to break the bad news.
"Sadly.We r seperated but wld NEVER b over money. That is so far frm the truth," she tweeted, dispelling rumors to the contrary. "Wish ppl cld respect ppl's privacy during times like these."
The Bravo personality subsequently told followers that "it's been rough" but that she appreciates the support from fans.
Wu-Hartwell, who was previously hitched to R&B singer Keith Sweat from 1992 to 2002, felt compelled to respond after some media reports claimed money problems played a part in the split, noting the fact they defaulted in 2007 on a home mortgage.
She and Hartwell eloped in December 2005 and the duo formally married five months later. They have one son, Ed Jr., born in 2007.
